In 1822 the Hampshire Chronicle newspaper published a paper full of advertisements and this one notice:
"The past week has been productive of no occurrence, either foreign or domestic, of suffiicient public interest to claim particular notice"
In other words, there was no news that day! Amazingly, the Hampshire Chronicle survived despite the editor's lack of news sense. It continues today and is the county's oldest newspaper, having started in 1772. Its website is www.thisishampshire.net.
